Max Verstappen Wins Spanish Grand Prix
Verstappen extends championship lead with victory in Barcelona
The Dutchman took the lead from pole-sitter Charles Leclerc on lap 24 and never looked back, claiming his fourth win of the season.
Verstappen's victory extends his lead in the drivers' championship to 24 points over Sergio Perez, who finished second in Barcelona. Leclerc finished third, ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz.
The race was marred by a number of incidents, including a first-lap crash between George Russell and Valtteri Bottas, and a late-race safety car period caused by a crash between Nicholas Latifi and Esteban Ocon.
Despite the incidents, Verstappen was able to control the race from the front and claim a comfortable victory. The Dutchman now has a commanding lead in the championship and will be looking to extend it further at the next race in Monaco.
